How to Set Up Intel Smart Response SSD Caching Technology | PCWorld - Question Info

It doesnt use SRT but its very similar It uses sandisks own software to do the same exact thing, so nothing you have to do to setup SRT has to be done. I personally used it myself a few years back, it works pretty well.

The only problem is, with it being 32GB you have to clear the cache now n then when it comes to large games that get cached to it, that aside it works flawlessly.

I am so excited about the idea of getting an 8th gen quad-core for the same price of a 7th gen dual-core, but I don't wanna throw my SSD away and get charged an extra 80 bucks for that Optane.

Can anybody tell me that I'm wrong and that there's a way around it? Originally posted by SinanDira :. When SRT appeared 7 years ago, it showed its effectiveness only under a certain scenario, while on the other hand it resulted in a catastrophic decrease in speed.

But that's not doing anything. But like I said, I have no regrets.

It's been fun watching W10 come to life. Here's some of my PC description purchased new from Dell:. Unfortunately you installed windows 7 home version not professional when trying to fix your computer. If you still want to use Insider builds you can click [get insider builds] again in windows update advanced options. Thanks, my intensions are to stay as an Insider for as long as possible.

I am confused so please forgive me, lol. I thought I installed W10 using a Windows 7 free upgrade to W Anybody with a brain evidently I don't have one, lol using W7 or W8 can get the free upgrade downloaded on to a flash drive to use on another PC. And that's what I did. I used my brothers PC with W7 to upgrade it on to the flash drive.

Then I downloaded the W10 upgrade into my PC. I figured Microsoft would automatically pick up my embedded key built into my MB and it did so it did not ask. But it gave me W8 Home with a W7 control panel, weird? Then I tried to install W8 Pro and it asked for a key so that install failed.

Then I installed W8 using Windows 8. So that is the latest W8 prior to going back to Insider 24 hrs after installing. But I will definitely follow your instructions and give it a try asap, thank you. As far as saving my data I have nothing left to save, lol. I'll keep you posted. Thank you for replying. In case, if you need any assistance you may always post your questions along with your valuable suggestions in this forum.

Any ideas or am I stuck with windows 7? Thanks, DJBrohm. A modern SATA III SSD, for example, can deliver reads and writes in the vicinity of mbps, with submillisecond access times; by way of comparison, a 10,rpm hard drive may hover at around mbps under ideal conditions, with multi-millisecond access times.

Owing to the relatively high cost of solid-state drives, PC users commonly pair a midsize 60GB to GB SSD with a larger hard-disk drive, dedicating the SSD to handling the operating system and frequently used applications and data, while using the HDD for bulk storage. Such a configuration provides excellent overall performance and storage capabilities, but it requires the user to manage multiple drive letters and—if the SSD runs low on space—to move data manually from the SSD to the hard drive and back.

In contrast, Smart Response Technology hides all or part of the SSD from the operating system, and it caches data automatically. No additional drive letters are necessary, and data moves dynamically to and from the SSD based on individual usage patterns.
